Settings

How the grid behaves — lighting, page walking, paint style, cursor, LEDs, and PONG. None of these change the audio engine; they shape interaction and visuals only. Open from the root menu as SETTINGS; encoder 4 walks the eleven leaves below.

Entering SETTINGS

From the root menu, highlight SETTINGS and short-press encoder 4. Row 16 re-colours to the SETTINGS family tint so you always know you are inside this world. Encoder 4 turn flips siblings; encoder 1 short steps back to the root list.

FLW — follow lighting

A soft whole-grid wash that pulses with the beat — performance glow vs clean editor.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnON / OFFON = soft tint washes the grid in time. OFF = only the playhead column lights (cleaner for editing).
4 Encoder 4
TurnNext SETTINGS siblingWalks FLW → PREV → VIEW → …

PREV — sample preview policy

How the sample browser auditions files while you hunt. (Loudness of those previews is VOL → PREV — different page.)

PREV = ON — every file under the cursor auto-plays.

PREV = PRSS — press to preview only.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnON / PRSSON = auto-audition while spinning files. PRSS = only when you explicitly press (safer on stage).
4 Encoder 4

VIEW — note density on the grid

How much of the pattern you see while editing one page.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnEASY / FULLEASY = current page only. FULL = current page bright, neighbour pages ghosted underneath for context.
4 Encoder 4

PMD — pattern mode

What happens when a page finishes playing. This is the bridge between a single loop and the SONG arranger.

ModeWhat playback doesBest for
OFFStays on one page foreverDJ-style locked loops; live tweaking
ONMarches to the next page that has notesSimple A→B→C song form
SONGFollows the SONG arranger chainNon-linear set lists, repeats, bridges
NEXTJumps once to a queued page at loop endLive transitions on a cue

2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnOFF → ON → SONG → NEXTChoice survives reboot.
4 Encoder 4
Related: page strip colours and NEXT cueing are covered in Song → pages & PMODE.

LOOP — page length cap

How many steps of a page actually sound before it wraps.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnOFF or 1–16OFF = natural 16 steps. Short odd lengths (5, 7, 9…) = instant groovebox weirdness.
4 Encoder 4

CTRL — encoder 2 on the grid

What encoder 2 does in draw / single mode when you are not in a special overlay.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnPAGE / VOLPAGE = flip pattern pages 1–16. VOL = per-row volume for the cursor’s lane (live mix fader).
4 Encoder 4
Survives reboot. See also Sequencing → draw.

LEDS — panel hardware

Tell the firmware which LED panel(s) are actually bolted on. Wrong setting = pixels off the visible area.

ValueMeaning
1One panel (default)
1BOne panel, mirrored / flipped
2Two panels stacked (16×32)
2BTwo panels, mirrored

4 Encoder 4

PONG — bouncing retriggers

A ball bounces across the grid in draw mode. Every time it lands on a cell that already has a note, that note fires again.

PONG on: speed readout left, ON right, ball on the middle rows.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnOFF / ON, then speedWhen on, dial speed 1–99 (higher = faster).
4 Encoder 4
Not the idle “eyes”. Cartoon eyes after long inactivity (when not playing) are a separate screensaver. PONG only runs while you are in draw mode with PONG = ON.

CRSR — cursor style

How the edit cursor draws on the grid.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnNORM / CHNR / BIGNORM = thin white ring. CHNR = only on the focused voice in single mode. BIG = chunky 3×3 halo for distance reading.
4 Encoder 4

DRAW — paint handedness

Two-hand careful editing vs one-hand set/remove. Full gesture detail: Sequencing → Set & remove triggers.

1 Encoder 1
2 Encoder 2
3 Encoder 3
TurnL+R / RL+R = enc 1 row/erase, enc 4 place. R = enc 4 toggles alone; enc 1 = temporary full mute.
4 Encoder 4

MUTE — R-mode unmute mask

Custom set of channels that come back unmuted when you leave R-mode’s temporary full mute (encoder 3). Not a paint gate.

Sixteen dots = channels 1–16. Green = in the unmute mask; red = stays muted.

1 Encoder 1
TurnSelect channel 1–16Highlight which lane you are editing.
2 Encoder 2
TurnToggle mask bitGreen = unmuted on exit; red = stays muted.
3 Encoder 3
4 Encoder 4
Build a “kick + snare only” return so a break drops back to just those lanes. See Sequencing → R mode.
